Matte Masters// Prime, Powder & Set

Last year the beauty world went crazy for dewy skin, something that I could never recreate without looking greasy. So to hear that this years biggest beauty trend is matte makeup, made me very happy. Thanks to years of oily skin, this is something that I’ve got down, with a little help from some special products.
So here’s my favourite items that prep the skin, perfectly powder and set makeup for a shine free look all day.

Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation Primer// This primer took a while to grow on me, but paired with good skincare and moisturiser, this primer really makes a difference. Unlike other primers which are usually hard and silicone based, this primer is a liquid that goes on without feeling heavy or blocking pores. When I apply my matte foundation on top, I get a flawless, smooth finish which lasts hours.

M.A.C Blot Powder// A serious game changer in matte products. Lightly applied using a powder puff (not a brush, it just doesn’t apply the same) this powder cancels out shine without making my face look dry or over powdered. For my oily skin, this product is perfect. If I am in makeup melt down, this is what I reach for. It never smears  my foundation around my face or clings to my dry patches.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray// Not something I use everyday, mostly because I forget, but something that is essential for long days that require perfect makeup. Just a few pumps of this scentless spray and my makeup is set in place for the whole day. I wore this on my wedding day and was so happy to not have to reapply any makeup throughout the day.

So what are your matte masters?
